What is The House Supporter Project?

House Supporter Project allows your contribution of 1 unit, ¥3,000 /month (¥36,000 /year) to support families in need around the world, while being in Japan.

Habitat for Humanity Japan will combine the contributions from individual or group House Supporters into a sum for the cost of a house, and send out to the partner countries.

Minimum of 10 units consist one house, and House Supporters can choose the number of units to contribute.

Once construction is finished, House Supporters would be provided with photos of the house and news of the homeowner: Supporters can feel and see the result of their support. Comparing to traveling abroad for volunteering in construction, it is alternative way for you to stay involved in our house building activities around the world.

You could be in Japan and still feel the field, by yourself or as a group with your friends and co-workers.

What is a unit?

‘unit’ means a part of a house such as a roof or wall. Just as divide a house into 10 parts, we divided the total construction cost into 10 units and each unit cost at ¥36,000. Donated units are combined to build a house, for example: Ten supporters donating one unit each will provide the fund necessary to build one house. Supporters can choose the number of units to contribute.

Construction Timeline

In April and October, HFHJ will adjust the number and location for the houses with each partner country according to the donations collected by then. With all the arrangements done, the funds shall be transferred to the partner country. It takes about one to two months to construct a house. For example, units collected in January will be transferred by April. Please note this timeline may be changed due to many conditions.

Partner countries

The Philippines, Indonesia, and Bangladesh are the current partner countries of the House Supporter. Supporters may choose which country they would like to donate to. However, if the gathered number of unit does not become 10 units, HFHJ will ask Supporters for their approval to transfer their ‘unit’ donations to one of the other partner countries.
