We will be focusing our support on housing the over 1 million left homeless by this disaster. Travel to WAJIMA, JAPAN for a Weekend. Lend a hand here in Japan. Help repair traditional historic homes (“Dozos”) that were damaged in the 2007 Noto Honto earthquake. Join a mix of Japanese and foreign volunteers for a weekend on the Honto Peninsula spent repairing families homes, while restoring valuable cultural resources and learning about Japanese culture. Please support Habitat's ability to hold TWP meetings at the Pink Cow by respecting other patrons and purchasing food and drinks).]]> http://www.habitatjp.org/myhabitat/2008/02/121_next_meeting.html http://www.habitatjp.org/myhabitat/2008/02/121_next_meeting.html 001)イベント Tue, 05 Feb 2008 12:54:07 +0900 ハビタットジャパンでのボランティア活動に感化され、2007年10月にマレーシアのボメオ島に行きグローバルビレッジに参加しました。素晴しい人たちとチームを組んで、これまでの人生の中でも忘れることの出来ない深い繋がりが出来ました。 以下は、私の旅行からのいくつかの思い出を書いたものです。 誰でも家を建てることは出来るが、誰もが人間関係を築くことが出来るとは限らない。 私たちの旅行は初日から｢人｣がメインテーマでした。と言うのは私たちが質の高い家を建てることに集中していなかったということではなく、家を建てることだけがハビタットが目的としていることではないということです。人との関係構築もハビタットの目的の一つです。つまり、あなたとチーム、あなたとパートナー家族、そしてあなたとハビタットスタッフの関係の構築のことです。肩を並べて一生懸命働き、経験のないことをしているとき、人間関係を築くことがずっと簡単になります。 マレーシア、クーチン近郊にある小さな村のイェオさん一家、ヴェロニカ、フィリップ、ブライアン、バイロンのための新しい家の建設は、思いがけず楽しかったです。ですが、人との交流が私たちの旅をいいものとしてくれました。次に挙げることは私たちが絶対忘れたくないものです。 ブライアンの伸び縮みする顔。イェオさん一家の最若年ながら、家をほとんどが自分のものであるかのように装っていたようです。登校前は毎日手伝ってくれて、朝の軽食を運んだりしてくれました。彼は木槌を使うことや、石で一杯の小さなバケツを運ぶことも同様に上手でした。そして、彼のもっと得意とすることは、私たちを微笑ませることだったのです。これらのちょっとした仕事をしている間、彼は顔を伸び縮みさせる癖がありました。彼はどのようにかして、眉毛の内側の端部分を鼻に向かって動かし、鼻を上に向かって縮めることを同時に出来ました。これによって、彼は鼻柱のちょうど上、眉毛の間の隙間に、完璧なる3つの平行線を作ることが出来ました。その顔の表現をするとき、彼の丸い小さな顔は、どっかのトカゲが捕らえられてビックリしてる顔みたいでした。 ベロニカのお父さんの家で、リビングのカーペットの上で食べたご飯はいつも印象的でした。正午、私たち皆は昼ごはん休憩をし、ワークサイトからベロニカのお父さんの家に5分かけて歩きました。そこでは、山盛りの手作り料理が待ち構えていました。2時間前に朝の軽食をいっぱい食べていたにも関わらず、私たちは毎日それまで長いこと断食していたかのように食べました。お腹に食べ物を詰め込んだ後、消化を待ち、汗が乾くまで少し待ちました。くつろいでいる間は、話したり、ベロニカの妹と料理番組を観たり、子供たちと遊んだりしました。 それから、もちろん忘れることができないドリアン初体験もありました。クーチンのあちらこちらで、例の標識(ドリアンの絵の上に赤い太丸と｢no｣の文字が書かれたもの)を見うけていました。世界一臭い果物の一つであるドリアンの持込を禁止するためです。ついに味わう機会がやってきました。夕食の間、食事を台無しにしないように、｢それ｣はビニール袋に入って外に置かれていました。臭いデザートの時間になって、大きな黄緑色のトゲトゲした果物を切り分けるのは、その作業自体でお笑い種でした。フィリップとベロニカが切っている間、私たちは珍しいものをみるように群がりました。こじ開けられたとき、クリーミィで柔らかい果肉から放たれる強烈な醗酵臭はツワモノでした。まだ、私たちはこれを口の中に入れないといけないのです。幼いブライアンが熱心に手を突っ込み、とっても大きな切れ身を取りました。私はどちらかというと恐る恐る、指でちょこっと摘んで口に運びました。他のメンバーは試しさえもしません。それに対し試してみた人は、果肉が口に入ると皆同じ不快そうな顔になってしまいました。私たちが食べた後になって、ベロニカがおずおずと、ドリアンを消化した後のゲップについて警告しました。 そして最後に、お別れの思い出はチームとイェオさん一家で食べた最後の夕食です。マレーシアの具沢山の鍋料理を食べ終わり、私たちはお別れを言い、抱えきれないほどの思い出がある大きな旅を締めくくろうとしていました。私たちが始めてワークサイトに着いた時は、まるで西カリマンタン島の小さな村に空から落とされた宇宙人のようでした。しかし最後の夜には、ただの人間としてお互いの仲間と楽しんでいる、仲の良いグループでした。ブライアンは、みんなに写真を撮られる日々を過ごした後、プロの写真家になることを決めていたようで、彼は皆の顔にカメラを向けて走り回っていました。バイロンはクールな11歳を気取っていました。フィリップは静かなお父さんのようにしていました。ですが、彼が感謝のスピーチをしていた時、少し声を詰まらせていました。そして、初めて会ったときは遠慮がちで内気だったベロニカは、最後のお別れの投げキスをハリウッドスターのようにグループの皆にしていました。 Deva Dawson MyHabitat, Habitat for Humanity Japan]]> http://www.habitatjp.org/myhabitat/2007/12/building_relationships_one_deg.html http://www.habitatjp.org/myhabitat/2007/12/building_relationships_one_deg.html 003)コラム Wed, 12 Dec 2007 12:15:03 +0900 「チームリーダーとしてGVに参加するには？」をトピックに和やかな雰囲気の集まりとなり ました。現在GVに参加するする多くのチームは学生やJET(Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme)のチームで、一般に参加を希望する人たちのチームはまだまだ少 ない状態です。既存のオープンチーム（個人参加者を受け入れているチーム）に参加する ことはもちろん可能ですが、日程や行き先の都合で参加出来ずに終わってしまう人たちも 多いです。出来る限り多くの人がGVに参加できるようにする為にも、個人で参加を希望す る人たちがリーダーとして申込むにはどうすればいいのか？ということを簡単に紹介しまし た。今後より多くの人たちがGVに参加する機会を作りたいと私たちは考えています。 集会のフォローアップとして、以下に各情報の詳細を確認できるサイトを載せていますので 参考にしてください。

The 5th TwP meeting was hold on Nov 6th. The topic was "How to lead a GV trip?" Actually most of the GV teams are from Campus Chapter or JET(Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme) and the team formed by the individual participants are very few. Of course, individual participants can join the open team which accept individual volunteers, however people often can not join the open team because of their schedule. We do want to give them a chance to go to GV, so we introduced them the way to lead a GV trip by themselves in this meeting. Because of the UN Habitat Day (Oct. 1st), we had a different style of the meeting from the usual this time. It is that we not only shared information regarding to HFH-Japan and GV trip, but also had the presentation on the worldwide issue of human settlement and the activities such as a quiz to make awareness of the issue. Fortunately, as a result, more than 30 supporters from a variety of fields, such as Ms. Karryn Cartelle, who carried an article about Habitat for Humanity on the Magazine, “METROPOLIS,” the members of our Campus Chapters, and so on, came. Most of them seemed to enjoy the meeting because they stayed and talked one another although the meeting was closed. Moreover, we had wonderful guests from Meigaku (Meiji Gakuin University) GV team, Mr. Kimura & Ms.Kurata. They talked about their experience on their Kyrgistan GV trip this summer.
