【JPN Relief-34】 Miyagi : Building a Gazebo for Community
Habitat Japan is building a gazebo, which will be dedicated to the community in the district of Orihama, city of Ishinomaki, Miyagi. 17 families are living in temporary shelter complex in this area, where unfortunately does not have any community rooms for residents. The community suggested Habitat Japan to build a gazebo on the hill in the backyard, where offers a great ocean view, and thus gazebo building activity had begun.
On February 24, 9 members of Habitat staff and volunteers started the construction of the gazebo. Having a Japanese carpenter and a technical staff from Habitat International disaster corps as advisors, they support construction works. Sometimes local people also join the construction. One of the volunteers said, "I am very excited just to imagine one day people gather at this gazebo and enjoy spending time together in this coming spring."
Habitat Japan is continuously working with the affected families by providing help and supporting to their urgent needs.
