【JPN Relief-38】 Iwate : Flyer Distribution on its 2nd Stage

Donate to Help Japan Rebuild!

ofunatosecondposting_20120321.jpgOn March 18th to 20th, Habitat Japan once again distributed flyers to affected families in Ofunato city. This time, the target was the households with their houses categorized fully or largely damaged.

Habitat Japan visited more than 150 families in 3 days, explaining the rehabilitation program and providing housing consultation. As a result, 22 families were listed as potential applicants for the program, and inquires and registration requests continue to come through telephone and office visits.

Four local volunteers from Ofunato joined the campaign and said "I realized that the true recovery of the disaster is yet to come;" "Some have already rebuilt their homes and those who cannot afford it have no choice but to leave it as is. The gap is widening." They seemed to have felt the importance of assistance once again.

This year, Habitat Japan has made use of various local media, such us the newspapers magazines and radio etc, and distribution of flyers in community centers and by door-to-door visits. At the end of this distribution, it is considered that the whole city was concerned. However, some households may not find the information yet or assume that they are not qualified as the potential applicatns, or some may simply hesitate for various reasons to apply for it. Habitat Japan will continue making announcements to ensure this program to be widely known.
